A question for the class

I find myself in the weird position of needing to use some face moisturizer; for the first time in my life. Don't ask me how I made it to almost 29 years old without ever using (or owning) one, because I just don't know. I think it's the fact that I have never used make-up. Like at all. Also probably because I've until recently had oily skin and I lived in Los Angeles. Now I live in the driest state in the world and I need help.

So Internets, can you help a girl out? What do you use? How often do you use it? Does it make your face oily?

Anything Clinique is the way to go. Their good old-fashioned yellow moisturizer rocks, but if you want something more hard-core try their SuperDefense Moisturizer. It's not too heavy or greasy. I put it on twice a day—once in the morning after my shower and under my makeup and once after I wash my face before I go to bed.

I think I made it to about 29 or 30 before I started wearing it regularly but 10 years later I'm wishing I started when I was like 12!

I use one daily because it is unbelievably dry in my part of CA. I've typically used Neutrogena or Aveeno, but I'm looking for something new without all the nasty chemicals in it. I've heard good things about the Origins Organics line.

I'm trying really hard to get over my horror that you don't already use something! But you're asking now, so that's a start. :-)

There are so many good ones that won't make your face oily. I have really oily skin and I use one daily -- not using one can actually make your skin oilier because it goes into overdrive to make up for the lack of moisture.

Right now I'm using Bare Escentuals RareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer (long name, I know) and I adore it. It's lightweight and it just sinks in my skin. Before that I used...something else I can't remember the name of!

I'd suggest getting a bunch of samples and trying them before committing to one, because good ones aren't inexpensive.

I use facial moisturizer every evening, after I wash my face, before I go to bed. I love it and it doesn't make my skin oily at all.

I use Clinique's "Dramatically Different", it's the good old-fashioned yellow moisturizer that the first comment mentions. I've tried others, but I always go back to that one. It's nice and light, and unscented. I love it.

i really like garnier products. i use the day lotion for my face at night because otherwise i think the products are too moisutrizing (but you might need that where you are now). keep in mind that a lot of products are DAY and NIGHT oriented. the night is more moisturizing to "repair" your skin overnight and then the day is meant to be worn under your makeup. i don't normally do that (unless i've showered in the morning and then i do.. omg TMI). so anyway, everynight after i wash my face, i put on the day moisturizer and sleep with it on. DUDE YOU HAVE TO MOISTURIZE YOUR FACE!!!!!! your wrinkles need it to go away. lol

I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. Love it. I hardly use moisturizer, but when I do use it, this one doesn't leave me feeling too slippery.
